Art soothes my soul. I find satisfaction in my life only when I draw. When I finish a portrait I can hear my heart sing, and I smile.
That kind of pleasure is hard to find, and I cherish it when I find it.  It is a way of expressing my own problems or pleasures, letting myself be known. My artwork is a vehicle of self-discovery... as if I am my own therapist. Back to top

My mother was the greatest influence on my life. This woman raised her children as best she could, teaching us a great respect for all forms of art, music and nature.
She is the strongest person I know, and her strength has helped me so often.
She is herself an artist, and her expression of herself undoubtedly gave birth to my artistic creativity.

I love drawing portraits of both humans and animals. I try to bring forth  expression, what one might be trying to reveal. I am attracted to the freeness of X-generation, the body art expression of piercing and tattoos.
My art is not so much a statement as it is a way of finding out who I am, while I discover who my subjects are. Back to top

"I love the tonal qualities of charcoals. I like doing facial expressions, so I focus on portraits."

There is another lifelong love flowing through my veins: The place where Robert Frost is buried, resting in view of grand mountains, beautiful fall trees, the smell of sap rising, the unhurried life in a place called Vermont.

For animal portraits Wayne carefully studies the animal before attempting a portrait.

"I keep in mind what the animal is trying to teach me."
